Growth happens in seasons.
The story of Bridgewood Farms is one of identified need, dedicated investment, seasons of endurance, and continual growth. We are humbled to do such meaningful work and serve the most special community of clients and families.
1967 • OUR MISSION BEGINS
Bridgewood Farms was originally founded as Montgomery County Children’s Center in 1967 by a small group of parents desiring community and support as they raised their special needs child.
Over half a century later, our organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families and has become a beacon of hope within Montgomery County and beyond.
We work to improve the overall quality of life for each of our special needs clients by bridging the gap between the resources available and the unique abilities of each of our clients.
1998 • NEW NAME, NEW LOCATION
In 1998, we changed our name to Bridgewood Farms, Inc. after the purchase of a 17-acre Christmas Tree Farm in Conroe, Texas, where we are still located today.
2000 - 2005 • GROWING THE VISION
During this time, we added to Bridgewood Farms by expanding to nearly 60 acres and adding new houses on the property, allowing for additional programming and the start of our residential program.
We also added 4 modular buildings that served as offices and classrooms.
We are blessed to have such a great space to serve our clients and are exploring ways to maximize our property for the sake of quality and individualized care for decades to come.
2014 • NEW GYM
A large gymnasium was constructed and opened through the generous support of Pat and Dalton Thomas, Texas Oilman’s Foundation, and families of Bridgewood clients.
This building was not only home to health and wellness activities but also serves us for large group events.
2023 • NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
After Bridgewood Farms endured the pandemic and a few years of shifting leadership, Randy Doleman was brought on to help restart our programs and steer us into a new season of serving clients and families with IDD.
His background in nonprofit management and his personal experience with IDD made him the right fit to lead Bridgewood Farms.
what’s next for bridgewood farms?
DEVELOPING BRIDGEWOOD HOMES
Residential options for adults living with IDD are few and far between and this is, singularly, the biggest need for the special needs community. We are exploring ways to further grow Bridgewood Homes into a full-fledged special needs neighborhood, providing various levels of residential care.
NEW FACILITIES FOR OUR DAY PROGRAM
While working to build our client base and increase our revenue by way of donor support, we intend to move forward with a capital campaign, allowing for the creation of new classrooms, community spaces, and offices.
CREATING MORE SPECIALIZED CARE PROGRAMS
The Grove, work-readiness partnerships, occupational therapy, counseling services, and so much more are being developed to ensure that we are providing individualized and valuable services to each of our clients.
